Hello, I’m Teresa O’Connor, owner of Mediaverks.
Over the years, I’ve written for different publications, companies and non-profit organizations in the United States, Europe and Asia. After living throughout the United States and Germany, I now operate Mediaverks near the foothills of Boise, Idaho.
I write frequently about social media and traditional marketing, and I lead social media workshops, which bring practical tips to beginners and more advanced users. Besides social media, I’ve been writing about online content for a long time. My writing advice is featured in chapter one of the book “Developing Online Content: The Principles of Writing and Editing for the Web” (John Wiley and Sons, 2002).
An early adopter of social media, more than 4,500 gardeners, foodies and consumers know me as Seasonal Wisdom on Twitter, Facebook and my gardening/food blog www.seasonalwisdom.com. Thousands know me as one-half of Nest in Style podcasts, which can be heard monthly on Horticulture’s website or iTunes . I also tweet about current affairs, social media, marketing and local foods as TeresaOConnor1.
When I’m not behind a computer writing, I’m often outside growing something … often for use later in the kitchen. In fact, I co-authored Grocery Gardening: Planting, Preparing & Preserving Fresh Foods (Cool Springs Press, 2010).
As you can tell from my clients, I’ve worked with everyone from big brands to small family businesses in a number of countries. And I’ve learned something new about business (and often life) from each one. Without a doubt, that diverse experience is what drives my work today.
Before starting Mediaverks, I was a management supervisor at Porter Novelli (Los Angeles), where I led the agency’s youth marketing group. I’ve also held management positions at these well-known public relations firms:
- Ingalls Quinn & Johnson (Boston)
- Creamer Dickson Basford; now Magnet Communications (Providence)
- Yesawich Pepperdine and Brown (Orlando)
A few highlights over the years:
In China, I co-organized a successful intellectual property rights forum for American International Education Foundation and the City of Shanghai. Supporters included the U.S. Embassy in Beijing; Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association; Motion Picture Association; and American Chamber of Commerce.
In Austria, I served as international public relations manager at the Daniel Swarovski Corporation, a leading source of cut crystal stones, crystal collectibles and fashion products. While in this position, I established a global PR department that supplied news and strategies to offices in 26 countries. I also supervised the promotional efforts for two museum exhibitions on fashion and design, which traveled to Milan, Hong Kong, Zürich, London and NY.
In Boston, I was communications manager at Arkwright Mutual Insurance Company. To support the firm, I built strategic partnerships with the Consumer Products Safety Commission and National Weather Service. Arkwright’s annual report won “Best of Show” from the Insurance Marketing Communications Association. (Arkwright merged with Factory Mutual Global.)
But enough about me. What’s this mean for you? Basically that I’m a fast study, who is comfortable working with all levels of employees and a wide variety of cultures as well. You won’t need to spend much time briefing me to get the writing solution you need.
How can Mediaverks help you today?
